Crisis In The D.R. Congo
As some of you may be aware on May 22nd, 2021 the Nyiragongo volcano in the D.R. Congo began to erupt. This volcano has been inactive for the last 19 years when a set of "flank eruptions" occurred between January and February of 2002.
The Nyiragongo volcano is located above Goma town in eastern DRC. The eruption has caused much damage and has left many people homeless or displaced for the time being. Since the eruption 3 villages and 1 neighborhood in the city of Goma have been destroyed by lava.
The eruption has triggered a chain reaction in the area as seismic activity continues to this day with earth tremors. The ash released during the eruption is also of great concern to health officials as this could lead to respiratory complications or disease in much of the population.
Victory Churches of the DRC has 4 churches located in Goma. We are reaching out to our Victory Family as a whole to not only help the people in these 4 churches who have been affected by the devastation of this natural disaster. We would also like to be a blessing to others in the community who have been affected and offer funds towards humanitarian relief in this situation.
The VCC has already been working to get funds to Bishop Amisi who is the National Overseer for the DRC. We would also like to ask each of you to consider helping out as well.
